Just 30 minutes outside of Zurich is our next stop, Luzern. With stereotypical cobblestone streets, old buildings, and churches – it’s captivating. Again, a river runs through the center of town, and with the warm sunny day, it seems everyone is out and about.
Traversing the narrow alleys, we come upon a magnificent Jesuit church with detailed woodwork and paintings.
Take the covered wooden pedestrian bridge, lined with flower beds of violets, across the river to restaurants. The church and mountains are in the background.
Ice cream and a beer for lunch? Yes, please!
From Luzern, we head southwest towards Interlaken, at the foot of the Jungfrau and Schilthorn valleys. On the way, stopping at the lakeside village of Brienz, known for its wood carvings.
